How to enable or disable networking for attendees?

If in your event you have attendees who will not be participating in the Networking process and want to hide these options on their website or app, you can set up their profiles by following the steps below.

Here is a bit of information about how to configure the Networking tab on your event, to promote it among attendees. You can create a sense of community by allowing attendees to know who else is participating in the event and even interacting with each other.

To begin with, you should know that at an event you can have 4 levels of control over the attendees´networking:

  1. All attendees can participate
  2. None of the attendees can participate
  3. Only attendees defined by the organizer can participate
  4. Each attendee decides whether to participate or not

How to define who can network from the organizer/admin dashboard?

PRO TIP: To allow all attendees to network, you simply won't have to activate the networking property.

To define who can network as an organizer, you must do the following:

  1. From the Property section in the Import Tab you must activate the Networking property by clicking on “Add property”. In this article, we explain how to create or activate a property.
  2. Now, from the Attendee list section, you can proceed to assign them a YES / NO option in the Networking property.

By defining this property, attendees with Networking NO will have the following options hidden:

  • Menu/Meetings
  • List of meetings
  • Exhibitor/Contact box
  • Attendee list (EV Web only): Contact button hidden in all cases.
  • Attendee profile (Web and app): Same as Attendee list
  • Menu/Channels (Web and app)
  • Menu/Open Meetings (App only)

How to allow attendees to decide whether they want to network or not?

By activating this option attendees will have the option to decide on their own if they want to participate or not.

To allow this, you can follow the steps bellow:

  1. From the Registration Form section you must scroll down and click on “Add property”. This will make the Networking property visible in the form and each attendee will define it while going through the Registration Form.  To know more about how to create and modify the registration form, click here.
  2. Also, you can let them define it in the Join Form or they can edit it from “Edit Profile” whenever they want.

By allowing attendees to define if they want to network or not, those who have marked NO will have all the networking options available, but banners will appear indicating that they must activate it from their profile.

  • Menu/Meetings: Visible. Shows banner.
  • List of meetings: Visible. Shows banner.
  • Exhibitor/Contact box: Shows the stand administrator's data and instead of buttons, a banner appears indicating activation of Networking in profile.
  • Attendee list (EV Web only): Contact button hidden in all cases.
  • Attendee profile (Web and app): Same as Attendee list
  • Menu/Channels (Web and app): Visible. Shows banner.
  • Menu/Open Meetings (App only): Visible. Shows banner.

IMPORTANT ❗: You need to take into consideration that by assigning attendees the Networking NO property, they won't be able to be contacted via chat.
