How to create an Apple Developer Account?

Discover the steps to follow to create an Apple Developer Account and publish your own App for your event.

To be able to publish your event or congress's app in the App store, you will need an Apple Developer Account, which costs $99 annually.

Moreover, this account needs to be registered under the name of the app's content owner. Thus, the company responsible for the developer account must also be the "owner" of the event.

If you are an agency working for different clients, each app must be published in the rightful client account. Apple does not allow the creation of an agency account and uploading the customers' apps there.

Step 1: Have an Apple ID

To create an Apple developer account, you must have an Apple ID with two-factor authentication.

If you do not have an ID, you will have to create it

Step 2: Register to the Apple developer program

To create an Apple developer account, you must sign up for Apple's development program at this link: https://developer.apple.com/programs/enroll/

You must register as Organization (enrolling as an Organization), not as an Individual. To do so, you will have to have the following company information:

  • D-U-N-S Number: Number to verify the identity of the company. To get it, click here and follow the steps indicated by Apple. Take into account that it can take up to 15 business days to get a D-U-N-S Number. Find attached the direct link where you will be able to obtain the D-U-N-S Number

  • Company status: The company or organization must be a legal entity. Apple does not accept fictitious businesses, trade names, or branches.
  • Legal binding authority: As the person enrolling your organization in the Apple Developer Program, you must have the legal authority to bind your organization to legal agreements. You must be the organization’s owner/founder, executive team member, senior project lead, or an employee with legal authority granted to you by a senior employee.
  • A website: The company's webpage. Social media profiles are not allowed.

Click on the "Start your enrollment" button and fill in the fields with the previously recompiled information. Once registered as an organization, Apple will have to review the creation of the account and that the information in it is accurate.

This process can last up to 7 days.

Step 3: Make the payment

Once Apple verifies that all the information is accurate and accepts the account creation request, it will proceed to send you the payment instructions.

Remember that the quote is $99 per year.

Once the Apple receives the payment, the company will let you know through an email, and you will have your developer account available.
